"The Intruder" sneaks into the Urban Form exhibition

I was stoked that “The Intruder (ruru)” was selected for exhibition at the NZ Academy of Arts “Urban Form” exhibition, on now in the Academy Galleries (1 Queens Wharf, Wellington). I wasn’t entirely sure that I was a contender, as I know their expectations were for the main subject to be buildings and the like. I wrote in my application “Throughout Wellington City, residents are charmed by the haunting calls of our native ruru, who have adapted well to city living. This "intruder" may have adapted all too well to this urban jungle! This is the first piece in a new series celebrating old houses and their inhabitants.”

The show runs 22 Mar to 28 Apr 2024. If you’re in Wellington, do take a look (the gallery is on the waterfront at 1 Queens Wharf).

Which bird raised the most in 2024?

    Judi Lapsley Miller

Most of my art featuring endangered wildlife includes a 10% donation to a wildlife organization. The economic downturn continues, but we still raised nearly $3300 for the birds!
