"Our Feather Friends" Exhibition

"Our Feathered Friends" Exihbition
Te Māra Toi Gallery
Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne
End of Waiapu Rd, Karori
Wellington
1 Sept - 10 Oct, 2024

Wellington bird artists Carol Theologo and Judi Lapsley Miller have teamed up to share their favourite birds with you at Te Māra Toi Gallery. Their artworks in "Our Feathered Friends" are inspired by the incredible birdlife in the ecosanctuary, where both Carol and Judi spend many hours studying and photographing their subjects. If you love tūī, kākā, toutouwai, korimako, hihi, kōtare, pīwakawaka, ruru, and kererū too, you're in for a treat!

Carol is an oil painter with a light and airy touch. Her unique approach to oils involves many translucent layers, which she then scrapes back to reveal the layers below. In contrast, Judi is a fine-art photoartist who is drawn to the dark and moody. Her bird portraits might start with a photograph but are more reminiscent of paintings.

Art is selling "off the wall," so if you fall in love with a piece, you can take it home immediately. Check out their fine art prints in the gift shop, too.

Which bird raised the most in 2024?

    Judi Lapsley Miller

Most of my art featuring endangered wildlife includes a 10% donation to a wildlife organization. The economic downturn continues, but we still raised nearly $3300 for the birds!
